Automating Your Life

This current pandemic has forced us to look at ways to automate our daily lives and do things remotely - work, banking, fitness, education, shopping, entertainment, etc.

Businesses had already developed ways to get things done via websites and apps - now these platforms are being put to the test across the world. AI models are also undergoing testing when we use a lot of these platforms in our daily lives.

How much of the activity in our daily lives can we get done from a single location i.e. our homes?

Competition in the changing digital economy

Recent news that France has launched its own AI voice assistant to deal with the pandemic; The Southern Indian State of Tamil Nadu is launching its own e-marketplace, e-Thottam; Also, CAIT (The Confederation of All India Traders) is launching its own e-commerce platform.

When countries, states and other organizations launch their own digital platforms to cope with the current pandemic, you can imagine that if they see any success, they are likely to continue with these platforms after the pandemic has subsided, giving competition, in those regions, to the major market players such as Amazon.

This will change the digital economy in future.

It's a gamers' world out there!

In this time of stay-home orders and lockdowns, downloads of video games are booming and gaming is thriving. Game developers and game hardware manufacturers are launching esports/gaming tournaments to market their products/services. Marketers and advertisers are looking at ways to gamify their services to entice users. Users are streaming content and games more than ever.

It's the gamification of marketing.

Events Go Virtual

In this time of stay-home orders, businesses are going online with their webinars in huge numbers. From yoga instructors to trade conferences - all developing their virtual event models and trying ways to get noticed. The question is whether virtual events will become the new normal - at least for some time to come. Human beings are social animals so we will want to get together in person eventually but, probably, a lot more interaction will be done online as we get more used to the technology and behaviour for building online relationships with customers.

Is the future of work more distributed and decentralized?

Is the future of work more distributed and decentralized?

The current pandemic is making people work from home and businesses adjust their supply chains. Work and supply chains are likely to become more decentralized and distributed (to think of it in blockchain terms) to prepare for future shocks like the current one. Outsourcing work or sourcing your products from just one country (to save costs) may not be prudent in future. Here's an article written before the current pandemic about the future of work:
